Is this Bible quote a ploy to keep It's believer's living a destitute lifestyle or was It a genuine warning?
Former mayor Ray Nagin championed hard for the city of New Orleans after the devastation Hurricane Katrina caused , Nagin exposed the top tier of government for using bureaucracy as an excuse when they we're clearly in a state of emergency. After a long battle with government officials the time finally came to re-build New Orleans, and that's when Ray Nagin's true colors surfaced. The head honcho decided to allow the building of a Home Depot in a poor community even though previously Nagin announced this wouldn't occur.
The community didn't want to commercialize the neighborhood , because housing cost would rise and eventually make the area too expensive for them to remain there-Nagin pretended to relate to their concerns, however the ex-mayor could care less. Nagin's granite counter top business obtained a contract with Home Depot, and the dirty deeds went on from there. Karma caught up with Nagin in the form of a ten year sentence in a federal prison, given the choice would he again choose money over everything? My guess is yes.
Former NBA baller Rumeal Robinson is another example of money over everything. At 10 years of age Robinson found himself kicked out on the street by his biological mother, she didn't want to be tied to a child even if it we're her own. This reduced young Robinson to living in abandon homes, until a woman named Helen Ford took him in and protected him and provided a secure place for him to grow.
The Ford family had children of their own but it didn't stop them from adopting Rumeal . Yeas later Rumeal made his hoop dreams a reality obtaining an NBA contract, however he couldn't gel well with coaches so his NBA career was cut short by his own doing.
Rumeal wanted to build a resort in Jamaica but he didn't have enough money, so he asked his now widowed adoptive mother to take out a mortgage on her home which was paid for in full.
She took the mortgage out and he took off with the money, Robinson with the help of a banker took out two more mortgages unbeknownst to Mrs. Ford, placing the debt on the house to one million dollars. Helen Ford was served an eviction notice, while scammer Rumeal went prime time on E60 to blame Mrs. Ford's lack of college credit's as an explanation of her being scammed. Unfortunately for him the judge didn't agree and sentenced Robinson to 6-12 years.
These examples are not given to attack these two men but as a reflection of how we have allowed money to replace the moral fabric in our lives, we showed more love for each other in slavery and Jim crow than we do today. Will it take F.E.M.A. camp slavery for us to return to our roots of compassion and support for one another, or will we WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!
